How to Read a Fund or Company's Fundamentals in TradingView

Updated 2026-09-11 · UK · ~5 min read

The price tells you what a thing costs. The fundamentals tell you what you're actually buying. Here's where to find them.

Price is only half the picture. Underneath it sit the fundamentals — the dividend, the size, the valuation, the sector spread. TradingView shows these for free, and for a long-term investor they matter far more than any squiggle on the chart.

Where to look

  1. Open a symbol and find the tabs beneath the chart — look for Overview, Financials or Fundamentals.
  2. For a fund or ETF, note the expense ratio (its cost), the dividend yield, the fund size, and what it actually holds.
  3. For a single company, glance at the dividend history and how the valuation compares to its own past — not to guess the future, but to understand what you own.

The one number that compounds

For a fund, the expense ratio is the figure that quietly decides your long-run outcome. A fund charging 0.1% versus one charging 0.6% doesn't look very different today — over thirty years the gap is a meaningful slice of your final pot. Read this number before you read anything else.

Then check it against our KC Score and a side-by-side comparison, decide, and leave it. Understanding what you own is what lets you hold it calmly through the falls.
